We have been in contact with Inpost regarding the potential siting of a locker installation at the side of the village hall. The photo above shows a mock-up of what this would approximately look like. Inpost would install a concrete base on the school side of the hall, just beyond the wooden pedestrian gate and close to where the black bins are normally stored. This base would extend outward to ensure that the pedestrian and wheelchair / pushchair access to the rear of the hall is retained. The installation would connect to the village hall’s electricity supply to provide lighting, CCTV coverage and power for the lockers to be accessed and secured.
Inpost lockers provide a secure, 24/7 location for local residents to collect and send parcels at a time that suits them, reducing missed deliveries, cutting down on unnecessary car journeys to collection points further afield and supporting those with busy schedules or limited mobility.
We have been in contact with both the Post Office outreach service which operates on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the village hall, as well as with Ashleworth Post Office, neither of whom have raised any concerns. The Post Office receives a substantial public subsidy to support and operate the outreach service.
We would welcome any feedback on this proposal before we formally go ahead. If you have any comments please email by 30 April so that these can be taken into account.
